False Advertisement? Bait and Switch?

A little background: So for the last month or so CVS Pharmacy has been having school supplies on sale just like everyone else. But, CVS has taken it a step further and advertising certain things for free (when using your card) after extra buck rewards.

So this morning, at 9:30 am, I pack the kids in the van and go to CVS expecting to get my free ink pens, filler paper, mini notebooks, and pencil boxes. Except that they do not have any pencil boxes. What, no pencil boxes, it is only 9:30 on Sunday morning, the day the sale started. They have to have pencil boxes, my kids already planned what they were going to keep in their pencil boxes, they HAVE to have pencil boxes. So after searching the school supply aisle with a fine tooth comb we finally asked where they were. Guess what, they DO NOT have any pencil boxes. WHAT? You have got to be kidding me. I was told by the cashier that they only had ONE pencil box and someone already bought it. WHAT?

Now isn't that false advertisement? The ad does not say "While supplies last." In fact it says "Extra Bucks offer limit of 2 per household with card." You would think that they would at least have 2, if not 80 or 100 of these pencil boxes. Of course they probably think if they get you in the store for the free items that you will go ahead and buy the $4.99 pencil boxes when the free ones are gone. In fact isn't that Bait and Switch?

Now you may be thinking that I am some crazy lady getting all steamed up about a silly little pencil box. But it was 2 pencil boxes! And this isn't the first time this has happened. Sure they gave me a rain check, but 3 weeks ago they gave me a rain check for scissors and rulers, and do you know they still don not have those items in stock!

So what do you guys think, am I crazy, or is CVS just practicing illegal advertising tactics?

New Household Schedule

So I have stumbled through the day for 2 days now. Not knowing what should come next, being busy with housework when the kids needed my help, and of course not being busy when they were content playing. I have tried all kinds of planners over the years, from the Franklin Covey type to the TOS Homeschool Planner. None of them have been exactly right, I have always wished they had this one more feature, or there were too many pages dedicated to such and such, and I don't do such and such...
So, I made my own, complete with all the features this homeschooling, housekeeping mom needs, all on one page. So, I can put it in my "Homeschool Central" binder, facing our weekly lesson plan, and open it up to those pages and be able to refer back to it throughout the day.
Now, I had planned on uploading it to share, but being new to blogging and all, I can't figure out how to do it. So if you know how, let me know and I will share.

First Day of School

So today was Maddie's first day of 1st grade homeschool. It went pretty well. She is having a hard time letting go of her kindergarten teacher's ways. She is making comments like "Mrs. Powers does it like this." I am just hoping that she will see that we will be way more relaxed than the teachers in her previous hoitey toitey private school. Besides that she was super excited to get started. She was up at the crack of dawn and very cooperative in our new morning routine. All I can hope for is that her excitement lasts!

The ladybug was pretty excited to get started too. Mind you she is only 2, she had to do school also! So she did, I gave her shape and color worksheets and she did a pretty good job. I also went ahead and started her on the first lesson of "The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Your Child To Read". In fact I was going over the little sing-song poem about the letter A just before bed when she put her hand up and said" I'm tired of this". So I guess we will not be going over things at bedtime anymore.
